Doyon wins Model NATO Press Corps challenge

Sophomore and Journalism I student Sydney Doyon recently acted as a NATO Press Corps ambassador in Reykjavik, Iceland, where she shadowed NATO public affairs officer, whose headquarters are in Norfolk, and mentor Paolo Giordano.

“Shadowing Paolo in Iceland was a very enriching experience, I am so lucky to have had this opportunity to further my knowledge of journalism and gain a real world experience, I definitely will take a lot away from this internship and this trip,” Doyon said.

Doyon entered this year’s Model NATO Challenge Press Corps challenge in which she wrote a series of articles and tweeted about current events were judged. After the articles submissions were reviewed by judges, Doyon was the Press Corps member to receive the top score.

Press Corps participants were also invited to the Flag Raising and Virginia International Tattoo that began on Friday, April 28, where the Press Corps was recognized with the Student Diplomats at the beginning of the Tattoo.
