Reason to run: CHKD Love Run/Walk

Each year, two schools come together to support the same cause: the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD). Princess Anne High School’s (PAHS) SCA started the CHKD Love Run thirteen years ago in honor of their president, then battling cancer, now a cancer survivor.

Three years ago, our school joined the race in support of SCA sponsor Mrs. Shumate’s son Jack, who passed shortly after birth. Every year, the race raises thousands of dollars to go towards supporting those in need at CHKD.

The school, along with the PAHS SCA, are still diligently working together to organize the 13th Annual Cavalier CHKD Love Run/Walk to be held on Saturday, Feb. 4. at 9 a.m. in the Thalia neighborhood next to PAHS. The race is a distance of 5K (3.1 miles), that will include an extra one mile fun run/walk for the youngest participants.  The combined goal for both schools is to raise $10,000.

Raffle items and food will be available for everyone after the race.

Sign-up sheets can be found outside of rooms 103, 254, and the main office, and should be turned in by Friday, Jan. 20.
