Top travel destinations in the US

The Falcon Press worked to choose our top travel destinations in the United States.  Here’s what we came up with!

1. Vermont

A state with cold temperatures and ski resorts galore, Vermont offers a multitude of fun outdoor activities.  Vermont is well known for its natural landscape, which includes many forests.  The possibilities are endless, ranging from boating on Lake Champlain in Burlington to visiting Hildene, the Lincoln family home, in Manchester.

2. New Mexico

Embrace the warm weather and the beautiful sights of the outdoors in the wonderful state of New Mexico!  New Mexico is known for its upscale spas and Spanish colonial architecture, among many other things.  Outdoor activities include camping, hiking, and even cliff jumping.  Visit the White Sands National Monument in Otero Country to see the breathtaking sand dunes in person.  To see the limestone caves, visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park in Eddy County.  For skiing and hiking, we recommend the Sandia Peak Tramway in Albuquerque.

3. Montana

Nicknamed “Big Sky Country,” Montana is known for its diverse terrain and open land.  With multiple lakes, snow-capped peaks, and hiking trails, there is something for everyone.  Visit the nationally renowned Glacier National Park in Glacier County, fish and camp at Flathead Lake, and see hundreds of different animals at ZooMontana in Billings.

4. South Dakota

Home to the famous Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota is an interesting and diverse place to visit.  South Dakota is home to the world’s only corn palace, located in Mitchell, and the world’s largest bird feeder.  Another unforgettable attraction is the Reptile Gardens in Rapid City.  The gardens consist of many reptile exhibits, bird shows, and a spectacular green house.

5. Arkansas

The beautiful state of Arkansas borders the Mississippi River.  It is known for its abundant parkland and recreational areas, with terrain encompassing mountains, caves, rivers, and hot springs.  Visit the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo in Whittington Avenue to view the reptiles in their natural habitat.  If you are interested in history, visit the Clinton House in Fayetteville to learn more about the Clinton family name.  Another fun thing to do is to visit the Hot Springs National Park in Hot Springs and view the spectacular bathhouses built on natural hot springs.
